War of the Divinets
The Divinets were advanced, godlike artificial intelligences developed in the final years of Landfall-230 - The Great Dominion, just before it's collapse. Most citizens of the Dominion unknowingly carried genetic markers designed to interface with these systems, granting what later generations would mythologize as “divine powers.”
Each Divinet was created independently by a major faction:
- What later became the Umbral Communion began as a Lilarreich military program. It was the original and only planned Divinet. Its existence was exposed when a Citadel Corporation whistleblower leaked research to the public, igniting a global arms race.
- What later became the Conclave of the Silent Forge was a desperate and unlikely collaboration between Crazy Town and XreaTech in attempt to secure power through technological supremacy as stability crumbled.
- What later became the Weavers of the Verdant Thread was LobsterCo’s final project, spearheaded by Lobbar Homarus in his later years. Tired of war, he sought to create a Divinet that could preserve peace, not enforce dominance.
Though these systems were originally conceptualized as weapons, it is widely believed The Guild sabotaged their final stages, rewriting their cores to serve humanity rather than control it. This act, meant to save the world, instead accelerated its downfall. Mistrust bloomed as each faction accused the others of deception and concealment. Believing others had fully operational, militarized Divinets, global powers launched a final, devastating war.
